Pilot review: Jericho (CBS)
Type: hour drama
Wednesday 8/7c starting Fall

People:

* Skeet Ulrich (into the west)
* Gerald McRaney (major dad)
* Kenneth Mitchell (miracle)
* Ashley Scott (birds of prey)
* Sprague Grayden (Over There)
* Michael Gaston (Prison Break)

Plot:
Black sheep of the family returns to hometown after five years away. Drives of again after a day there, but gets in a car accident when watching a mushroom cloud on the horizon. The people in town are wondering whether there was an accident or if they are under attack. Bit by bit everybody falls apart.

All in all an intriguing concept, and if the writers can keep this level up, I smell a hit. Acting is solid across the board, and especially Gerald McRaney does not disappoint (as he never does, at least to me).

I quite enjoyed it and hope it's given the time to attract an audience. Glad to see Skeet Ulrich back on the screens and think he's strong enough to carry the show.

Watching from Australia, thought it was a fantastic pilot episode. Does anyone know what the car he was driving was? Trying to explain it to my boyfriend, I'm not a car expert..

Don't see this as a hit, Americans see enough doom and gloom with similar plots and the same endings. All I see is another attempt to capitalize on something we fear the most and by involving political rhetoric made the show totally tasteless.

Leave it to network TV (and CBS) to destroy what could have been an otherwise solid show with cliched storylines, plot setups and twists. Just how many HEAVY handed and sappy stories does one have to sit through to tolerate network TV. This show has loads of promise, yet the writers fell back to just another tired old cliched story within 20 minutes (lets have the wounded hero save a busload of kids and perform an emergency tracheotomy with the straws from a juicebox!!!!). YAWN..... worse than a USA network made-for-tv movie. The acting was mediocre and occasionally heavy-handed and despite what should be an intriguing premise, what might doom this show is lame stories and predictable plots.

Maybe the reason why shows like LOST succeed is because they take the same old storylines and add refreshing twists to them, with a dash of HUH ???

If the series premiere is any indication, this show will be just another to end up on the CBS trash heap of "what-could-have-been."

Agree entirely - great premise - couldn't wait to see it - but by the end of the show I cringed at the Mayor's feel good 'why can't we all just get along' speech. Way to ruin such an intriguing premise.

If HBO did this show it would rock.

Does anybody watching this show stop and think? What is the largest educational device in every US home? TV. What better way to get a "message" out to the masses. What is thre message? Well, I know what I'm getting from it. You need to watch and decide if there is more here than just entertainment, or is there something to learn here.
