Pilot Review: Runaway (CW)
Type: hour drama
Mondays 9/8c starting Fall

People:

  • Donnie Wahlberg (Boomtown, Band of Brothers)

  • Leslie Hope (24, Line of Fire, Everwood, CiC)

  • Chris Potter (Silk Stalkings) as a guest?

  • Dustin Milligan

  • Sarah Ramos (American Dreams)

  • Benz Antoine

That's a lot of Canadians :-)

Plot:
A lot like The Pretender, but with a normal family instead of one brilliant guy. The family has to run as the dad is accused of a crime he didn't commit. These men promptly escaped into the Los Angeles underground... ehhh... Oh, that's another show. The US Marshalls are on their tail, so they have to be very careful about their cover stories and run-ins with the law.

Acting is all ok, the three kids do well enough and have some likeable traits. Hope and Wahlberg turn in their normal fine performances. The story is something else: I don't see this going very far. Then again, I said that about Prison Break last year and look where they are now :).

I think this has potential but it being a CW show if it takes after The WB mould it's not going to be a high paced action show like Prison Break, more a plod along drama show.

I thoght the show was boring and dark.
I really cant see why they thought this show was better then everwood.
I give it 5 episodes until cancelation.....

I haven't seen the finished version, but since they are filming in my town, (Oakville, Ontario, Canada---Oakville is about 30 minutes from Toronto) I watched them filming some of the pilot. I think it is a very intriguing concept, as long as they don't mess it up.

yes they are, but since they want some fall scenes they're going to wait until sept-oct so that they have some leaves falling.

i love the show, but i don't think it'll last too much longer.
i really hope it does though, it's different from other shows.
